Registration

Our registration team works hard to welcome you to our Institute and answer any questions you may have.

Hospitality Resources
The hospitality team showcased NSDTA publications, the newly redesigned website, information on our Dine Around networking opportunities, and the field trips offered to tour local training initiatives.  They were also available to answer any questions attendees had about the facility or things to do in Chicago.

Opening Networking Reception
This year's institute opened with a networking reception to welcome first time attendees and for returning attendees to rekindle contacts made at previous Institutes.  Information shared and gathered during these informal networking events has proven extremely valuable for all attendees.

Opening Keynote Plenary Session
On Monday, we welcomed our attendees to our opening keynote session.  Welcoming remarks were given by (from left to right), Mary Urzi, NSDTA president, Jerry Friedman, APHSA Executive Director, and Bryan Samuels, Director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.  Dr. Katherine Briar-Lawson, (pictured at far right) Dean of the School of Social Work, University of Albany, State University of New York, presented the opening keynote session.

Workshops
Workshops are the cornerstone of our annual Institutes.  In Chicago we had over 70 workshops and learning opportunities.  To learn more about what was presented, read our Chicago Workshop Abstracts.

Awards Luncheon
The NSDTA Board of Directors continued our awards tradition started at the 10th National Institute in 1997 in Washington, DC.  Many unsung individuals and programs provide outstanding training for the staff of public welfare and child welfare agencies without noted recognition.  We congratulate our 2004 Award winners!
