NSDTA sponsors an annual professional development institute that
brings together many human services trainers and training
management staff members, as well as university partners,
who participate in a variety of workshops, seminars, and
other networking opportunities. These Institutes have proven
to be excellent vehicles for human services training
professionals to learn about the latest information,
research, techniques, equipment, and materials used in the
management and delivery of training and staff development.

NSDTA believes the opportunity to attend
its Institutes should be shared with as many human services training
professionals as possible, but it also recognizes that many agencies simply may not have the funds necessary to send
staff. To that end, NSDTA has decided to offer the opportunity to apply for a
scholarship to attend our annual Institute.
These scholarships are being named for Joan Carrera, a pioneer in
staff development and training from HHS, and a true friend, mentor,
and inspiration to NSDTA.

The National Staff Development and

working in public human services. Each year, NSDTA sponsors a
Professional Development Institute.
The NSDTA
Institute serves as a forum for the advancement of knowledge and
skills of Training Services professionals from beginner to seasoned
specialist. The goal of each presentation is to enhance the
knowledge and skills of the adult learner. The desired result for
each workshop is a participant enriched in knowledge, skills and
attitude.
NSDTA invites
presentations featuring areas of knowledge, skills and program
development representing the wide range of services and programs
provided by Training Services, Quality Assurance and Organizational
Effectiveness professionals.
If you’re looking for tips for presenting workshops, check out our
Guidelines for Workshop Presenters.
