About Us

Mission
NSDTA builds professional and organizational capacity in the human services through a national network of membership sharing ideas and resources on organizational development, staff development, and training.

Vision
The National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA) has a vision of competent and caring people in effective organizations creatively working together to improve the well-being of society's children, adults, and families.

A Brief History is a historical document written in 1997 and describes how NSDTA was founded and later became an affiliate of APHSA.

If you’re interested in the NSDTA Bylaws, feel free to read them here.  These recently updated bylaws were voted on and approved by the membership at the 2006 Professional Development Institute in Minneapolis, MN.

NSDTA does most of its work through its committees.  Any NSDTA member can join a committee and help us accomplish our goals.  Current committees include:

  • Awards and Scholarship

  • Evaluation

  • Institute

  • Finance

  • Membership

  • Nominations and Elections

  • NSDTA Code of Ethics

  • NSDTA Journal

  • Chapters

  • Standards and Certification

  • Technology

  • University/Agency Partnership

If you are interested in joining one of NSDTA's committees, or want more information about committee work, feel free to contact us.

The NSDTA Board is made up of representatives from around the United States, including both regional representatives and members-at-large.  Learn who is currently serving on the NSDTA Board by accessing the 2007-2009 Board Membership.

NSDTA is an affiliate of the American Public Human Services Association.
